Comic Review

From the Pull List: November 21st 2018

This weeks books:

  • Batman #59
  • Justice League #12
  • Project Superpowers Vol. 2 #4
  • The Punisher #4
  • Shadowman #9

Batman #59 was a great read. Bats confrontation with Penguin convincing him that Bane is behind it all and that he has nothing to lose anymore with the love of his life dead. This of course leads Batman to confront Bane who feigns that he is mentally crippled and no longer the terror he was. Batman attempts to beat a confession out of him only to be stopped by Gordon which puts these two at odds with each other. Top notch storytelling and stellar artwork as usual!

Justice League #12 Still bores me. Again I can’t wait for this storyline to end. The cover is almost misleading though extremely well done. Sure there is a confrontation but it really didn’t get the detail it deserved in the story. Still we are at the point where all hope is lost for the heroes and Aquaman and Wonder Woman are equipped with the tools they need to turn the tide. So I’ll cross my fingers that there is only 1 or 2 more issues of this and we can get onto a better storyline.

Project Superpowers Vol. 2 #4 was good. This feels more like how an alien invasion vs the world’s most powerful heroes should be dealing with a threat. It is coming along very nicely and the artwork is very strong.

The Punisher #4 again I’m very glad I stuck with this book as The Punisher is not usually my cup of tea. The art and story are fantastic. You can really feel the terror that the villains feel when confronting The Punisher. I didn’t sign up for this! Which throws them off their game.

Shadowman #9 is still a good story. Some of the artwork was horrible, but they were going back and forth between talent. There are some really nice moments in this story like when she looks in the mirror and is then trapped in it watching herself become replaced.
