Comic Review

From the Pull List: October 10th 2018

This weeks books, I’ll review them in the comments after I read them:

  • Amazing Spider-Man (2018-) #7
  • Project Superpowers Vol. 2 #3
  • Venom (2018-) #7
  • X-23 (2018-) #5

>Amazing Spider-Man (2018-) #7 This story was pretty great in the beginning. It actually went in a slightly different direction than what I was anticipating. I’m really glad I stuck it out so far. Boomerang was pretty awesome in it. The only beef I have with the story is the villain at the end ordering the Kingpin around like a henchmen. I know I get it there is some history there, but I just feel that Wilson bows down for no one.

Project Superpowers Vol. 2 #3 Was a decent story as they further progress on this assault on Earth. We are getting deeper into the characters so that they are not so flat and have some depth to them. A bit more surprising is The Devil is not dead and has possessed Masque and is not trying to attack The Flag. Of course the other interesting thing is that the Scarabs tech seems to be very similar to the alien invaders.

Venom (2018-) #7 Was very interesting with the Ultimate universe Reed Richards entering the story and seeking to gain a sample of the symboite. The fact that the symboite now has no personality and that Eddie is acting like a drug addict in need of it is a nice touch as well. The way that it has been shielding him and blanking out his memories has been another great twist to the story.

X-23 (2018-) #5 Wraps up the storyline with the Stepford sisters. This was really a great arch and I really hope that the rest of the series continues to hit the bar as this one did. I was really impressed and I really enjoyed it all.
