Comic Review

From the Pull List: October 17th 2018

This weeks books, I’ll review them in the comments after I read them:

  • The Life Of Captain Marvel #4 (of 5)
  • Batman #57
  • Daredevil #609
  • Gideon Falls #7
  • Justice League #10

The Life Of Captain Marvel #4 (of 5) Well this story is almost over, but it was worth the read. The fact that they are unveiling a twist to the origins of the character is very interesting with Carol’s mother actually being a champion of the Kree. You can see a lot of ties to Superman in this, but that is alright with me. It’s a nice homage. My question is though, is her brother her half brother or full brother. I may have missed something during the read. If he is her full brother then despite him being handicapped he will be able to awaken the power within himself as well.

Batman #57 Had a nice back and forth story with the bedtime story juxtaposed with the current events. Really this issue was just an entire fight sequence but the way it was done really made it worthwhile. I’m not sure about Bats leaving him behind to fend for himself as that would mean putting him in a place that would ensure his death. But he did kill his son, so maybe…

Daredevil #609 This story brings Matt to turn his tactics to the offensive. I don’t know how that is going to play out just yet but I guess we will see. Of course I don’t know how well the continuity is controlled between books since Spider-Man is also dealing with the Kingpin and that whole thing with him bowing down to that one character. They probably are not connected at all which makes this kinda odd.

Gideon Falls #7 The story is trucking along but in all reality I’ve lost interest in the book. I’m going to see it through, and maybe it will grab me again. I guess now that this doctor has kidnapped our one character that wants to rebuild the black barn with the pieces he found will be something. The character is probably the medium or the door that is the gateway between our world and the sinister one.

Justice League #10 Alright, while this story was okay, I’m not sure about it. I mean it ends with this whole big checklist of crossover titles. This marketing tactic that is a grand event always turns me off. Some might say it is a great jumping on point but I believe it is a jumping off point for me. I might read one more to see but if the story is full of holes from not getting all the books then I’ll stop reading it.
